As a social institution, universities require effective leadership to address challenges and achieve organizational goals. The main objective of this study was to present a model of antecedents, processes, and consequences of developing charismatic strategic leadership in higher education. The research employed a qualitative meta-synthesis theory-building design using the seven-step method by Finfgeld-Connett (2018). Following the research question formulation, keywords such as leadership, strategic leadership, and charismatic leadership were searched in reputable Persian and international databases including Noormags and Scopus, covering publications from 2000 to 2025 (1380-1404 SH). After evaluation, 111 articles were selected for analysis. A total of 54 open codes were identified and categorized into 16 axial codes under three selective codes: antecedents (e.g., effective communication skills, empathy), processes (e.g., influencing and inspiring followers to achieve strategic organizational goals), and consequences (e.g., improved student academic performance, enhanced quality of higher education programs). The final model was then delineated. The validity of the research findings was confirmed using four methods: descriptive, interpretive, theoretical, and pragmatic validation. The findings indicated that the success of an organization such as a university requires leaders with the antecedents of charismatic strategic leadership so that the processes of this leadership style can be properly implemented and its desired outcomes realized in the higher education institution. It was also suggested that to enhance university productivity, training courses such as emotional intelligence and communication management should be considered.
