English

Anthropomorphism is a component in anthropology and a method of life-giving technique or diagnosis in the art of Iranian painting, which can be cited in the picture of Alexander and the Talking Tree from the Great Shahnameh (Demot) book of the Ilkhanid period, analyzed and discussed in the present research. The research question is as follows: What and how to use the anthropomorphism component in this picture? The research aimed to achieve the concept of anthropomorphism component and adapt it to the theory of personal structure (George Alexander Kelly), which deals with the analysis of personal processes from a psychological point of view. The hypothesis of the research is to discover the hidden layers of meaning and the mastery and knowledge of the designer regarding the anthropomorphism component based on the dimensions of psychology in this picture. In this research, the descriptive-analytical method was used, and information and visual documentation were collected through the library method. The results indicated that the use of the anthropomorphism component is based on the illustrator's knowledge and relative understanding of various aspects of anthropology and psychology of personality, which is due to the prevailing political-social conditions of that time that forced the designer to wrap some moral and critical discourses with the help of the anthropomorphism component.
