The treatment of sick children is often accompanied by anxiety due to their lack of psychological maturity, exposure to new situations, and fear of separation from their families. Research indicates that more than half of children in hospitals face this issue, which negatively impacts the treatment process and causes concern for parents. Therefore, it is essential to consider their needs and experiences when designing treatment environments, so that designers focus not only on aesthetics but also on responsible design and the application of a design thinking approach. The goal of this research is to examine the impact of this human-centered approach on improving the therapeutic experience of children, emphasizing their challenges and experiences through empathy. This article is a review study that collects data from reputable sources in the field of responsible design and design thinking and investigates how this approach can reduce children's anxiety. The results show that using this approach in designing entertaining services and child-friendly, joyful environments can effectively reduce anxiety, although its implementation in Iran has not yet been fully realized. The findings and recommendations suggest that this approach can serve as a key strategy to help healthcare providers offer more effective services by reducing the anxiety levels of children, ultimately leading to an improved therapeutic experience, enhanced quality of life, and increased satisfaction for both children and their parents.
