The aim of this research is to examine the impact of city entrances on urban identity from the perspective of the Meta methodology approach. Considering that city entrances are the first points of contact and interaction for citizens and travelers with a city, as well as representing its identity indicators, this study investigates the literature on understanding how urban identity is formed and transformed, with an emphasis on the design elements and structure of entrances. Data collection was conducted through library research and article searches within the period of 2014-2024, covering the last ten years. In this context, 26 articles were selected and analyzed. 45 percent of the studies used qualitative research methods, 41 percent used mixed strategies, and 12 percent used quantitative methods and with the use of spatial analyses, statistical software, and urban imaging being characteristic of these studies. In the field of urban identity, qualitative methods have been more welcomed, which can be attributed to the social, cultural, historical, and economic complexities, the examination of citizens' experiences, and the attention to local context and participation in the city. Urban entrances not only serve as access routes to cities but also influence the overall identity of the city due to their design features, functionality, and the existing space. Proper design of entrances can help strengthen urban identity, increase citizens' sense of belonging, and attract tourists, while inefficient entrances may negatively impact the public perception of the city.
