Prospective information disclosure refers to the dissemination of information regarding a company's future plans, strategies, forecasts, or events. Such information is of significant importance due to its sensitive nature and its potential impact on the decisions of investors, customers, competitors, and other stakeholders. The present study aims to investigate the bidirectional relationship between prospective information disclosure and accounting, market, and economic performance in the annual reports of 178 companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) over the period from 2013 to 2023. To achieve this, a system of simultaneous equations was estimated using the two-stage regression method, and the level of prospective information disclosure in annual reports was measured through content analysis. The findings of the study indicate a bidirectional relationship between prospective information disclosure in annual reports and key performance metrics, including return on assets (ROA), price-to-earnings ratio (P/E), and market value added (MVA) in companies listed on the TSE. Companies that disclose prospective information accurately and in a timely manner are more likely to attract better financial resources, thereby enhancing their asset returns. Additionally, such disclosures can foster positive investor expectations, leading to an increase in the price-to-earnings ratio. This suggests that investors are willing to pay a premium for the company's shares, reflecting their confidence in the firm's future growth prospects. This research contributes the literature on prospective information disclosure by improving reporting practices and highlighting the importance of the relationship between the level of prospective information disclosure and accounting, market, and economic performance for stakeholders.
