English

Green walls can reduce heat loss from buildings and the use of air conditioning systems and thus reduce energy consumption in buildings. It is necessary to use this method to reduce the use of fossil fuels. The main goal of this research was to evaluate the thermal performance of double-layer green walls to achieve the maximum annual thermal load reduction in a typical commercial office building in Tehran using DesignBuilder software. This practical research employed a simulation method using case study and analysis. In this research, for the first time compared to previous research, it is clear that in a typical commercial office building in Tehran, if two internal and external green walls are used at the same time, compared to one external green wall on the west front of the building, there is a 13.3% reduction. The annual heat load compared to previous research shows that this amount of energy consumption reduction gap has not been considered in any research in the world and it has been proposed for the first time in the present study. Furthermore, the current research indicated that the geographical front of the west has better thermal performance with distances of 30 and 20 cm for the external and internal green walls, respectively.
