Quadratic boost converter is a DC to DC voltage converter with higher voltage gain compared to the conventional boost converters. This converter is considered as a bilinear class system and there are some challenges to control its output voltage because it is a non-minimum phase system with limited input signal. In this article, a quadratic boost converter is controlled under variable load and input voltage with a passivity based controller. The main idea of the controller is applying a damper to the closed-loop system in order to keep the output voltage constant. For improving performance of converter against changes of input voltage and load is used error integrator. Simulation of the quadratic boost converter circuit and the proposed controller is done in MATLAB software and performance of the proposed controller is compared with a classic PI controller. The simulation results show that the proposed controller regulates the output voltage while the input voltage and load vary and it leads to a better performance compared to the PI controller.
