Abstract

Gears are one of the most important components in power transmission systems in the industry. In this research, using computer code in MATLAB based on the AGMA 925-A03 standard, after verifying the written code, the effect of different parameters on lubrication conditions for 3 groups of common base oils in the industry (mineral base group 1, PAO and PAG) has been investigated and the oil film thickness along the line of action has been calculated for 25 different points and the possibility of wear in the gears has been investigated. Also, the instantaneous and contact temperature at each point has been checked and by considering the friction coefficient, the possibility of wear has been quantitatively calculated. The results show that when the temperature of gear oil is lower than 58°C, the use of mineral oil has a higher pressure-viscosity coefficient than PAG base oil and when the oil temperature is lower than 72°C compared to PAO base oil, thick oil film It forms more and stronger, and at temperatures higher than these, due to the higher viscosity index of synthetic base oils, the lubricating film of synthetic oils forms a stronger film thickness. Also, the higher the speed of the pinion and the smoothness of the surface, the lower the contact temperature and the stronger the oil film.
