Abstract

Value changes along with structural changes and increasing levels of education have created dramatic changes in the way men look at life and its patterns. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify the lifestyle of single men. This article studies the various dimensions of the lived experience of single men using the background method (data foundation). The statistical population in this study comprised of single men over 28 years of age in Tehran. The research was carried out by purposive sampling method and using semi-structured interview tools until theoretical saturation was achieved. The study was conducted by interviewing 32 single men. In the coding step, 520 open codes, 100 core codes and 20 selected codes were extracted from the interview. Throughout this research, the guidance of professors was used to increase credibility and reliability. In the final stage, the lived experience of single men with a focus on modern lifestyles was identified as the main factor. The constructed phenomenon of modern lifestyle is the result of the use of art in leisure, watching foreign channels and the use of social space, which led to strategies to reduce adaptation to unhealthy interactions and entertainment. Decreased family relationships, emotional problems, the multiplicity and normalization of relationships with the opposite sex, disorder in life and attention to clothes are the consequences of the mentioned phenomenon.
