Developing a Model for Development of Managers Distance Higher Education System (Study case: Payam Noor University)

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to formulate a model for the development of managers of the distance higher education system of Payam Noor University .As a descriptive study, a qualitative method based on Grounded Theory was applied. Participants included Among 11 managers were distance education experts and managers of different departments of Payam Noor University whom were selected. A semi-structured interview was conducted. After conducting the interview, the content analysis was done at the same time. For the adequacy of the interview, after reaching the theoretical saturation, the textual validation and review of the interviews was done by referring again to the participants from the experts' point of view. Coding and extracting the main and secondary categories and explaining and compiling the conceptual model were done. In order to ensure validity and reliability, two methods of reviewing participants and reviewing non-participating experts were used in the research. The results indicate the social phenomenon of the current study of the model for Development of Managers Distance Higher Education System In 6 main dimensions and 18 sub-categories and 46 components have been extracted, formulated and presented from the text of the interviews. Based on this, it is suggested for the managers of the distance education system that the higher education system of the country should take action to solve the causes and implement the strategies calculated from this model in order to achieve the desired results in terms of the of managers in this higher education sub-system.
