Abstract

Considering the special importance and position of family in terms of education and society and the influence of the cultural and religious context of society in the formation of relationships and family structure, the present study was conducted to investigate the validity and effectiveness of indigenous couple therapy model.  The present study was an experimental-quantitative research conducted as a pretest-posttest with a one-month follow-up. From the statistical population, 26 people were selected by random sampling and placed in the experimental and control groups. The experimental group was trained in 9 sessions of 90-minute weekly training. The research instrument was the Family Flexibility Questionnaire, which was administered to the subjects to collect information. To analyze the data, repeated measures analysis of variance was used. The results showed that the pattern of indigenous couple therapy based on the combination of Minuchin and Islam structural approach had a significant effect on promoting family flexibility and the durability of the effect of education was maintained after one month (p <0.05).
