Abstract

The aim of the current research was to provide a structural equation model of information technology on the performance of referees of the 2018 Russia World Cup with the mediating role of self-interest. The statistical population of the research is made up of all the referees and assistant referees present at the 2018 Russian Football World Cup, 111 people (35 center referees, 63 assistant referees and 13 video assistant referees), which due to the limited number of the statistical population, the statistical sample The number has been selected, finally 107 questionnaires were returned. To collect data from 3 questionnaires; Davis' information technology (1986), Myers et al.'s self-utility in judgment (2013) and a researcher-made questionnaire were used to examine judges' performance. The validity of the questionnaires was measured through confirmatory factor analysis and their reliability was measured through Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Structural equation test and SPSS and AMOS software were used to analyze the data. The results of the research showed that information technology has a significant positive effect on the referees' performance of the 2018 Russia World Cup. Also, self-interest plays a mediating role in the impact of information technology on judges' performance. Based on the results obtained from the research, it is suggested; FIFA officials should organize briefing classes to increase referees' knowledge and awareness of the benefits of information technology, and in this regard, with the help of football federations, they should smooth the fields of training and use of this equipment.
